The Swedes of «Amaranthe» are known for their mixture of melodic metal and electronic dance music elements. The sound sounds pretty pop and Türülü, but I really think they do it because they just want to create a contrast to their main bands. At least I don't get the impression that Olof Mörck (Dragonland) and Elize are looking to make money from plastic music. The band obviously has a lot of fun on stage and is looking for a balancing act between metal and danceable music. Not everyone has to like it and it's also really sticky, but the music is also fun and puts you in a good mood. Is it enough or rather what more could you ask for? Their new album «Massive Addictive», the follow-up to «The Nexus» from 17, will be released on October 2013th and as always «Amaranthe» does not submit to any prescribed genre rules.

Amaranth - Massive Addictive

On "Massive Addictive" the basic characteristics of the band, bombast sound adorned with driving riffing, pulsating beats and heavenly melodic choruses remain present, at the same time the album continues Amaranthe's tradition of constantly exploring new dynamics and developing their own sound. The songs are so catchy that they reverberate in your ear canals hours after listening. Recorded with sound magician Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica) as executive producer, the twelve-song album is a flawless collection of carefully crafted European metal, powered by Olof Mörck's surgically precise riffs and cutting solos, backed by Morten Løwe Sørensen's rhythmic precision and Johan Andreassen humming low-frequency attacks. Elize Ryd's vocals are as emotional and space-filling as ever, while Jake E's melodic vocals ooze power. Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson, who is now responsible for the Screams, also puts his own stamp on the new material.

The album starts off with an explosive shock: «Dynamite» comes along energetically with hard riffs. One of the titles, like «Unreal» and «Danger Zone», where you have to say: «Holy shit, Elize is here»! Her siren-like singing pulls you in from the start. The single "Drop Dead Cynical" follows, in which the band, like the song "Over and Done", focuses more on the chorus and provides the existing vocal dynamics with a surging breath of fresh air. "Drop Dead Cynical" is a representative song for the album. The very groovy piece differs clearly from the classic «Amaranthe» single releases and takes the sound in a fresh direction, crowned with an anthemic chorus. "Drop Dead Cynical" reflects exactly what fans of "Massive Addictive" can expect: heavy melodies and heavy riffs. The accompanying video for "Drop Dead Cynical" is really fat, more than a dozen MMA fighters interacting with cheerleaders and tons of pyrotechnics make the whole thing an intense Amaranthe experience.

The title track is perhaps the greatest testament to Jake and Elize's symbiotic synergy. Contrasting with the singers belting out their individual lines is the chorus, which strikes a perfect balance with the voices. This musical relationship is further underscored with «True», one of the album's two power ballads. Along with «Exhale», Jake seems to return somewhat to the dualistic evocations of the first album with the two songs. «Digital World» is the album's steam engine, here Elize's voice explodes, as does «Over and Done» and together with «Danger Zone» these are also the best showcases for Henrik's vocals. Further variations in musical dynamics and technical precision are «Trinity», «Danger Zone» and «An Ordinary Abnormality», where you can feel Olof and his love for Power Metal. «Skyline» and «Exhale» are two completely unique entities from the Amaranthe discography and provide a bright light and new sound. «Skyline» is a swinging roller coaster. "Exhale" closes the album nicely, a beautiful powerful song in mid-tempo symphonic gothic metal style and vaguely reminiscent of "Within Temptation".

«Massive Addictive» is a step forward for the Gothenburg band in every respect, as their last album «The Nexus» reached #6 in the Swedish, #4 in the Finnish and a surprised #12 in the US charts. From the driving sounds of Drop Dead Cynical to the anthemic title track to the opulent stadium atmosphere of Digital World and the emotional, powerful semi-ballad True, Massive Addictive is a dynamic lesson that refuses to be subject to any prescribed genre rules. The album is energetic, bombastic and explosive, just like you are used to from Amaranthe and the powerful implementation of the songs is a real treat for all friends of Melodic Death Power Metal.

"Dravens Tales from the Crypt" has been enchanting for over 15 years with a tasteless mixture of humor, serious journalism - for current events and unbalanced reporting in the press politics - and zombies, garnished with lots of art, entertainment and punk rock. Draven has turned his hobby into a popular brand that cannot be classified.

My blog was never designed to spread news, let alone get political, but with current affairs I just can't help but capture information here that is otherwise censored on all other channels. I am aware that the design page may not seem "serious" to many in this regard, but I will not change this to please the "mainstream". Anyone who is open to non-state-compliant information sees the content and not the packaging. I've tried enough to provide people with information over the last 2 years, but quickly noticed that it never matters how it's "packaged", but what the other person's attitude towards it is. I don't want to put honey on anyone's mouth to meet expectations in any way, so I'll keep this design because hopefully at some point I'll be able to stop making these political statements, because it's not my goal to go on like this forever ;) I leave it up to everyone how they deal with it. It's hard for me to describe what I'm actually doing here, DravensTales has become a culture blog, music blog, shock blog, tech blog, horror blog, fun blog, a blog about found items on the internet, internet bizarre, trash blog, art blog, water heater, zeitgeist blog over the years , Scrap blog and grab bag blog called. Everything that is right ... - and yet not. The main focus of the blog is contemporary art, in the broadest sense of the word.
