As is well known, Metallica and Lady Gaga performed together at the 59th Grammy Awards - and for this reason Lady Gaga is now being offered the opportunity to become Metallica's new "co-lead singer". Regardless of the disastrous performance, in which frontman Hetfield had a mute mic during the song "Moth Into Flame," his bandmates Ulrich, Hammett and Trujillo were blown away by Gaga.
As WJLA reports from Washington, Lars Ulrich has now actually offered Lady Gaga a place in the band and invites Gaga to join the band on stage whenever her schedule allows. In an interview with Access Hollywood, drummer Ulrich stated:
We have got a brand new lead singer. Well, a brand new co-lead singer, is a greater way of saying it. We were speaking earlier about maybe making her a permanent member of the band, and being a five-piece from now on, so we'll see.
Ulrich hasn't said a word about whether Lady Gaga will actually take on a part in the subsequent studio album or whether she will only take part in live performances. What is clear according to Lars: "This is just the beginning!"
