In the cinemas, the film adaptations of Stephen King's books often turned out to be box office poison and of disappointing quality. One exception was Mikael Håfström's gripping ghost thriller Room 1408, which gave John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson a welcome box office hit in 2007 and reminded us why some haunted houses are better left alone. So what would be more obvious than to hire the successful duo from back then for another film adaptation of the horror old master? On January 12, 2017, their Pulse (in the original Cell) will be released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The trailer in which we dive into the post-apocalyptic novel world from King's pen, in which nothing and nobody is safe from the horrific attacks of the murderous hordes, provides the right mood.
Clay Riddell is in Boston on business and is looking forward to flying home to his family. Suddenly and apparently out of nowhere, all cell phone users turn from one moment to the next into bloodthirsty, zombie-like killers who attack each other. In the midst of these apocalyptic conditions, Clay, the rough subway driver Tom and the young Alice can save themselves in a hotel. Cut off from all digital means of communication, the three decide to set out on foot in search of Clay's family. Chased by the murderous hordes, their way through the cold forests of New England becomes a bloody struggle for survival, with death lurking around every corner.
