After the dramaturgical catastrophe of the sister series “The Walking Dead”, the 2nd season “Fear the Walking Dead” strikes its own quiet tones - and convinces. Finally the long wait was over and “Fear The Walking Dead” went into the next round on the wide open sea. The second episode says: Land in sight! See here in the promo and Sneek-Peak video for “We All Fall Down” what the survivors can expect when they are back on safe ground.
While the sister series breaks rate records non-stop despite declining quality and a consistently low budget and the audience is not impressed by the level limbo of the regular show and remains loyal to the series, it could, if it were up to AMC, series in the zombie universe of comics Creator Robert Kirkman give up to the actual apocalypse. The first season “Fear The Walking Dead” had its weaknesses, but it was consistently entertaining and cleverly written. And so the second season of the series deserves attention. So now our survivors are fleeing out to sea, believing that it is the safest place there. But even here there are countless dangers, as episode 1 "Monster" showed us. Will our troops meet potential pirates?
As mentioned above, we learned in the first episode: Walkers can swim! But in the opening episode of season 1, we also got an idea of the other dangers lurking on the high seas: namely, mostly people! Those who may have capsized the ship are now approaching our crew on the Abigail inexorably. Whatever the threat, the passengers will obviously manage to go ashore next week, as can be seen from the promo video. Apparently, Maddy, Travis and Co. have to make a stopover and are expected by a horde of infected people on land. That can be cheerful! Daniel will certainly not be able to stop the infected with his weapon alone, even if you can see the others fighting bravely next to him. But what do our survivors want on land?
The synopsis tells us a little more about why the group is going to disembark. It is said that the group is seeking shelter “with a family of survivors”. While Madison is “looking for the real motives of the family”, Daniel Salazar tries to uncover the secret of the beach. His suspicion even seems to go so far that we hear him say, "We don't need the beach". What is he up to? And what does all this have to do with that crashed plane that Chris is hanging around with? Does this have anything to do with the fate of Flight 462? And who are the armed people who suddenly come on board? Is this the family that Madison & Co. seek “shelter” with? Hardly, right? Is it perhaps the people from the mysterious ship that was approaching the Abigail at a breakneck pace? We are excited!
In contrast to the template, “Fear the Walking Dead” is not lucky enough to be able to increase from season to season. At the start of the second season, the post-apocalyptic spin-off from Robert Kirkman went down a whopping 34 percent, which meant an audience of 6.7 million. In the pilot episode in August, 10.13 million zombie fans were still there and curious to see how the outbreak of the gruesome plague in Los Angeles is happening. Compared to the final episode of the first season, which flickered across the screens in October, “Fear the Walking Dead” had to lose 3 percent. A meteoric rise like the original, which started with five million in 2010 and attracted up to eighteen million viewers in 2015, is not to be expected in this case.
