The horror thriller “Wolves at the Door” took its inspiration from the Charles Manson murders. The American criminal Charles Manson and his followers, who together formed a kind of commune, the “Manson Family”, committed a total of nine murders in four different locations over five weeks in the summer of 1969, the most famous victim being the actress Sharon Tate . Manson was sentenced to nine life sentences in 1971. His infamous persona was infused with an aura of madness and violence, which has made him a macabre symbol of pop culture over the years. For John R. Leonetti, “Wolves at the Door” wasn't the first foray into the horror genre. As a cameraman he has already worked on films such as “Conjuring - Die Heimsuchung” (2013) and “Insidious” (2010) and as a director he previously directed the Conjuring spin-off “Annabelle” (2014) and “The Butterfly Effect 2” (2007). Leonetti brought in front of the camera many actors who had become known through their work in series: e.g. Elizabeth Henstridge (Marvel's Agents of SHIELD), Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the middle) and Katie Cassidy (Arrow).
